I got my first passport at 23 years of age. It only took one trip out of the country for me to become totally hooked.
It started with easy trips – Western European countries like Germany, Italy, England, and Spain.
We took our daughter to Japan when she was 3. Japan is a great country, but it is a bit different from the US. Now add in a toddler (picky eating, strict bedtimes, very recent mastery of potty-training, etc.) and there is really quite a bit of potential for disaster.
Despite some challenges, we made it work. It was a magical experience watching her marvel at all the wonderful, weird, and different things Japan had to offer. And at that moment, the population of travel-obsessed people grew by one more.
It is now my mission to maximize my vacation days to the fullest possible extent. I think I’m doing a pretty good job at it. 🙂
